Abstract:

Background:Arterial hypertension affects 1.28 billion people and represents a central risk factor. Due to adverse effects of pharmacological therapies, non-invasive approaches are gaining increasing importance. This randomized controlled trial investigated the effect of suboccipital decompression on blood pressure regulation in prehypertension.Research design and method:Thirty-two adults (40-60 years) with prehypertension (130-139/85-89 mmHg) were randomly assigned to an intervention group (suboccipital, n = 16) or control group (sham, n=16). Systolic and diastolic blood pressure were measured at five timepoints over four weeks. Data analysis was conducted using mixed-ANOVA with Greenhouse-Geisser correction.Results:The intervention group demonstrated an average systolic blood pressure reduction from 134.0 to 126.9 mmHg, while the control group showed virtually no reduction. Time effect and time × group interaction were statistically significant (p < 0.001). Diastolic values showed a moderate decrease.ConclusionSuboccipital decompression resulted in an average systolic blood pressure reduction of 7 mmHg in prehypertensive adults. These results suggest a possible effect of this non‑invasive intervention. Wegen Nebenwirkungen medikamentöser Therapien gewinnen nicht‑invasive Ansätze an Bedeutung. Diese randomisierte kontrollierte Studie untersuchte die Wirkung der suboccipitalen Dekompression auf die Blutdruckregulation bei Prähypertonie.Methodik:32 Erwachsene (40-60 Jahre) mit Prähypertonie (130-139/85-89 mmHg) wurden randomisiert einer Interventionsgruppe (suboccipital, n = 16) oder Kontrollgruppe (Sham, n = 16) zugeteilt. Systolischer und diastolischer Blutdruck wurden an fünf Zeitpunkten über vier Wochen gemessen. Die Auswertung erfolgte mittels Mixed‑ANOVA mit Greenhouse-Geisser-Korrektur.Ergebnisse:In der Interventionsgruppe zeigte sich eine durchschnittliche systolische Blutdrucksenkung von 134,0 auf 126,9 mmHg, während die Kontrollgruppe praktisch ohne Veränderung war. Zeit-Effekt und Zeit × Gruppe-Interaktion waren statistisch signifikant (p < 0,001), diastolische Werte zeigten eine moderate Abnahme.Conclusio:Die suboccipitale Dekompression führte bei prähypertensiven Erwachsenen zu einer durchschnittlichen systolischen Blutdrucksenkung um 7 mmHg. Die Ergebnisse deuten auf einen möglichen Effekt dieser nicht-invasiven Intervention hin. Weitere multizentrische Studien sind zur Evaluation von Langzeiteffekten erforderlich.
