Abstract:

On the one hand, asymmetry in osteopathy is a feature of somatic dysfunction. On the other hand, some well-known osteopaths believe that asymmetry opens the way for the elimination of manifold dysfunctions of the movement system. However, the two doctrines contradict each other; they highlight a previously unresolved dilemma in practice. This article addresses this problem with the aim of making an important contribution to the discussion of this little-known topic in osteopathy.
