Abstract:

The region connecting occiput and upper cervical vertebrae is a highly specific one. With regard to the spinal column itself, the question arises as to how principally identical elements can turn into differently structured sections. The genetic basis of this phenomenon considers the possibility of homoeotic transformation, which would explain the occurrence of some certain malformations. There follows a description of pre- and postnatal development of vertebrae, ribs and vertebra-rib joints.

Die Verbindung von Okziput und oberen Halswirbeln ist eine Region höchster Spezifität. Aber auch bei der Wirbelsäule selbst erhebt sich die Frage, wie aus prinzipiell gleichen Anlagen regional unterschiedlich ausgeprägte Abschnitte entstehen. Die genetische Basis dieses Phänomens schließt die Möglichkeit der homoeotischen Transformation ein, die ihrerseits einige Fehlentwicklungen erklärt. Die weitere prä- und postnatale Entwicklung von Wirbeln, Rippen und Wirbel-Rippen-Gelenken wird beschrieben.
