Abstract:

The article describes the structure and the function of the external fascial skeleton lying outside the abdominal organs and the internal fascial skeleton lying in the organs. Together they form the visceral fascial system, which is not only responsible for traction and tension, but also influences the volume capability of the organs. It is the exact knowledge of architecture, biomechanics and the functions of these structures that makes it possible to distinguish between compensation and dysfunction in osteopathic practice.
