Abstract:
Our cells contain about 60% of the body water, while the extracellular interstice contains the other 40%. The relative distribution between intracellular and extracellular space is determined by the osmotic and the colloidosmotic pressure. The cell volume is regulated via the electrolyte transport. Central nervous and local mechanisms regulate the physiological constancy of water volume and electrolytes via the kidney function with high precision.
