Abstract:
The article describes how osteopathy in Switzerland evolved from the originally inconsistent cantonal regulations to the intercantonal GDK diploma (Diplom der Konferenz der kantonalen Gesundheitsdirektorinnen und direktoren) and finally to the Health Professions Act. The Act established osteopathy as a highly regulated profession, requiring a five-year full-time degree programme, a licence to practise, registration in the Health Professions Register, and mandatory continuing professional development.
