Abstract:
Early regulatory disorders in infancy („Regulationsstörungen“ is a term established in German-speaking countries) such as excessive crying, sleep disturbances, and feeding problems represent a significant burden for mothers, parents and families. Treatment is typically multimodal and includes parental counseling, behavioral interventions, interdisciplinary collaboration, and in some cases probiotics and manual therapies. The strongest evidence exists for probiotics in breastfed infants with colic, whereas the evidence for osteopathic and manual therapies is generally considered low. In osteopathic practice, case history, clinical examination, parental counseling, and interdisciplinary cooperation play a central role.
