Abstract:
The growth and formation of the infantile skull takes place in several stages, although there is actually no such thing as “the infantile skull“. The neurocranium is formed by the brain growth. The configuration of the viscerocranium is caused by the development of the jawbones (alveolar process of the maxilla), the paranasal sinuses and the dentition. Chondral, sutural and periosteal growth complete and postulate each other.
