Abstract:

The article describes the current situation of osteopathy in Austria. It outlines the legal framework governing the profession and insurance, presents the various osteopathy schools and their training programmes, and introduces the Austrian Society for Osteopathy (OEGO) as the sole professional association. Three examples illustrate how the OEGO supports its call for the statutory recognition of osteopathy as a service covered by statutory health insurance.

Der Artikel beschreibt die aktuelle Situation der Osteopathie in Österreich. Er erläutert die berufs- und versicherungsrechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen, stellt die diversen Osteopathieschulen und deren Ausbildungsangebote vor sowie die Österreichische Gesellschaft für Osteopathie, OEGO, als einzigen Berufsverband. Drei Beispiele zeigen auf, wie die OEGO ihrer Forderung nach berufsgesetzlicher Anerkennung der Osteopathie als Kassenleistung untermauert.
