Abstract:

Background: The knowledge of the anatomical relations of the pericardium in terms of its attachments, or its “suspension“ could be a prerequisite for the understanding of the pericardial mobility, and the consequences of a possible mobility restriction. Assuming that there are ligamentous connections to the spine, this must be taken into account within osteopathic treatment, in terms of pericardial, cardiac and vertebral function and mobility. Objective: The aim of this anatomical study is to find out what connections the pericardium makes to the spine, and whether vertebropericardial ligaments exist within this relation.
