Abstract:

The ethmoid and sphenoid bones are part of the group of seven bones forming the skull base. The ethmoid bone plays a part in the structure of the skull base, the sinuses and the orbita. The sphenoid with its numerous passages marks the “fundament of the central skull base”. Their related ethmoid and sphenoid sinuses are manifold in shape and size.

Zu den sieben Knochen der Schädelbasis zählen das Os ethmoidale und sphenoidale. Während Ersteres sich am Aufbau von Schädelbasis, Nasenhöhlen und Orbitae beteiligt, markiert das Sphenoid mit seinen zahlreichen Durchtrittstellen das “Fundament der zentralen Schädelbasis”. Vielfältig in Form und Größe sind die dazugehörenden Sinus ethmoidalis und sphenoidalis.
