Abstract:

Together with the postnatally accelerated and expanding brain growth the desmo- and chondrocranium is induced to grow, too, the sutures and the dura mater forming a functional complex as placeholders for the cerebral growth. Often long-term unidirectional false postures of the head are the reasons for the development of cranial dysmorphisms, leading to an intensified compensatory contralateral growth of the cranial bones caused by modified biomechanical forces.

Mit dem postnatal beschleunigten und expansiven Hirnwachstum wird das gleichzeitige Wachstum des Desmo- und Chondrokraniums induziert. Die Suturen und die Dura mater bilden einen funktionellen Komplex als Platzhalter für das zerebrale Wachstum. Bei der Entstehung von kranialen Dysmorphien sind häufig längerfristige einseitige Fehllagen oder Fehlhaltungen des Kopfes die Ursache. Dadurch kommt es kompensatorisch zu einem verstärkten kontralateralen Wachstum der Schädelknochen durch veränderte biomechanische Kräfte.
