Abstract:
Objectives: Relying on the « Thegosis » theory, the purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of teeth clenching on the posture by way of a stabilometric platform. Methods: Thirty-two subjects divided into two groups, «Bruxism» and «Control» using criteria from Molina et al. undergone two series of three stabilometric measures: teeth unclenched then teeth clenched. Posturological parameters analyzed in this study are: X-mean; Y-mean; area; LFS; VFY. Results: Statistical analysis of the data reveals significant differences for the X-mean, the area and the VFY. Conclusion: This study shows that if teeth unclenched, bruxer subjects have a similar posture to the control subjects, teeth clenched they present dissimilar postures. Teeth clenching tends to stabilize the bruxers and destabilize the control subjects.
