Abstract:

During the founding years of osteopathy and chiropractics, scholars claimed, the roots of manipulative therapy would lie in Bohemia. Because of the problem of understanding czech language, historians and doctors were unable to verify this thesis. The new book by Popović, „Böhmische Heiler”, now offers new insights and helps solving this problem.

In der Formierungsphase von Chiropraktik und Osteopathie um 1900 wurde von verschiedener Seite behauptet, die Präzeptoren der eigenen Arbeit stammten aus Böhmen. Aufgrund der Sprachbarriere konnte diese Behauptung nicht verifiziert oder widerlegt werden. Das neue Buch von Popović, „Böhmische Heiler”, gewährt aber Einblicke und Erklärungen.
