Abstract:

The axillary nerve originates from the posterior trunk of the brachial plexus together with the radial nerve. Axillary nerve paresis is caused by traumas, by nerve tumors or autoimmune reactions. The typical entrapment neuropathy of the nerve in the lateral axillary hiatus causes an often unspecific shoulder pain and frequently leads to misdiagnoses. In addition to clinical and neurographic examinations of the patients, neurosonography can be useful for establishing the diagnosis and prognostic assessment of the therapeutic measures available.

Der Nervus axillaris entwickelt sich aus dem Truncus posterior des Plexus brachialis gemeinsam mit dem N. radialis. Axillarisparesen entstehen traumatisch oder sind die Folge von Nerventumoren bzw. Autoimmunreaktionen. Die typische Entrapmentneuropathie des Nervs im Hiatus axillaris lateralis verursacht einen meist unspezifischen Schulterschmerz und führt häufig zu Fehldiagnosen. Neben der klinischen und neurographischen Untersuchung der Patienten kann die Neurosonographie bei der Diagnosestellung und der prognostischen Einschätzung der zur Verfügung stehenden Therapiemaßnahmen hilfreich sein.
