Abstract:

In contrast to four-legged mammals, the human foot serves as both a support and a locomotive organ. To be able to fulfil this dual function, the foot has special anatomic and biomechanical character-istics. Fat pads on the sole of the foot ensure secure ground contact, the receptors in the sole of the foot and in the muscles, tendons and ligaments explore the structure of the ground and react to pressure and vibrations, thus enabling a human to stand and to walk while keeping balance.

Der Artikel stellt ein neuartiges osteopathisches Denkmodell vor, das von der Kausalität der Störung ausgeht anstatt von der klinischen Erscheinung. Ein durchgehendes System der Diagnostik, anwendbar für jegliche Erscheinungsform so genannter idiopathischer Fuß/Unterschenkelfehlstellung. Die orthopädische Klassifizierung wie auch die Schwere der Deformität sind dann lediglich relevant für die Abstimmung des Therapieansatzes mit anderen Fachdisziplinen.
