Abstract:

The stomatognathic system plays a central role in osteopathic diagnosis and treatment. Occlusal situation, jaw and cranio-cervical position are all connected within this system, which consequently has a major influence on structures and functions. The article presents some of these interrelations and describes how the osteopath treats the stomatognathic system. Osteopathic treatment in children is essentially of a preventive nature.

Das stomatognathe System spielt in der osteopathischen Diagnose und Behandlung eine zentrale Rolle, da es Bissstellung, Kiefergelenk und kranio-zervikale Haltung verbindet und so eine Vielzahl von Strukturen und Funktionen beeinflusst. Der Artikel listet einige dieser Zusammenhänge auf und beschreibt die Arbeit des Osteopathen an diesem System, die bei Kindern präventiven Charakter hat.
