Abstract:

The osteopathic approach is based on a philosophical understanding of how the body works and therefore what to do when health gives way to disease. Narrowing it down to musculoskeletal conditions, as the reform of the National Health System (NHS) in the United Kingdom now envisages, is far from doing osteopathy justice. It was Still himself who emphasised that the future of osteopathy depends on it remaining a completely independent system.
