Abstract:
Introduction: There are several relational mechanisms between low back pain and visceral dysfunctions, but there are few studies that collect and compare this data. These associations are already known and have been studied, such as anatomical structural relationships, visceral referred pain, tissue adhesions, and relationships with the nervous system. Objectives: To determine the effectiveness of osteopathic visceral treatment in improving low back pain.
Materials and methods:
A systematic review study was conducted on the effectiveness of visceral osteopathic treatment in resolving low back pain, including randomized clinical trials that relate low back pain and visceral dysfunctions, from which interventions, results, and conclusions were extracted. Results: Six randomized clinical trials were selected that studied visceral osteopathic treatment focused on improving low back pain. These trials showed improvements in low back pain, functionality, and pain threshold after treatment using visceral osteopathic techniques. Conclusion: Visceral osteopathy has a positive effect on low back pain in the short term, although there is no clear evidence of long-term benefits.
