Abstract:

Embryological studies by Erich Blechschmidt (1904-1992) play an important role in present Central European osteopathic theory of science. But Blechschmidt's research was conducted in a dubious way before 1945. Later he claimed innoxiousness of Contergan and left scientific communities for advertising creationism.

Für die aktuelle osteopathische Wissenschaftstheorie spielen die Forschungsarbeiten des Göttinger Embryologen Erich Blechschmidt (1904–1992) eine bedeutende Rolle. Allerdings ist zu fragen, ob es wirklich vorteilhaft sein kann, sich auf die Erkenntnisse eines Mannes zu verlassen, der seine Studien an Präparaten zweifelhafter Herkunft durchführte, die schädliche Wirkung von Contergan in Zweifel zog und schließlich einen wissenschaftsfeindlichen Kreatonismus bewarb.
