Abstract:

Babies and infants getting osteopathic therapies may show oral functional disorders, such as insufficient sucking, problems with mash, semisolid or solid food or even choking (dysphagia), open mouth, tongue pro-trusion, and drooling. This article highlights medical contexts (muscle hypotonia, hypertonia/spasticity) and explains indications to more specific therapies such as the concept of Castillo Morales, Pörnbacher, Padovan and F.O.T.T.

Bei der osteopathischen Behandlung von Babys und Kleinkindern werden von den Eltern gelegentlich auch Störungen der oralen Funktionen genannt, zum Beispiel Schwierigkeiten beim Saugen, Übergang auf Breiessen oder auf festere Nahrung bis hin zum Verschlucken (Dysphagie), offener Mund, Zungenprotrusion oder Speichelfluss. In diesem Artikel werden medizinische Zusammenhänge (Hypotonie, Hypertonie/Spastizität usw.) erklärt, außerdem Indikationen zu weiterführenden medizinischen Therapien, zum Beispiel die Konzepte nach Castillo Morales, Pörnbacher (NEPA), Padovan oder F.O.T.T. vorgestellt.
