Abstract:

Plagiocephaly is differentiated into a primary and secondary form based on its pathological genesis. The secondary form, which is reported as the most common cranial deformity in infancy, is an acquired positional plagiocephaly. Osteopathy can be considered as a diagnostic tool as well as a therapeutic intervention, supplying a multitude of possibilities. An osteopath should act as a team player in a multi-personal treatment concept. An osteopathic approach to the treatment of plagiocephaly is, for example, based on the embryological developmental movements according to Blechschmidt, by which means the originality and wholeness of the patient can be incorporated into the treatment.
