Abstract:

In-depth knowledge of anatomical structures and biomechanics of the upper cervical spine is a vital precondition for adequate clinical diagnosis of whiplash injury, which has to be completed by modern imaging technologies, in particular MRI. In addition to passive, supporting measures in early stages and, increasingly, active physiotherapy, certain osteopathic techniques may offer a valuable enrichment of the therapeutic arsenal according to a review compiled by M. Keller, A. Bischoff und B. Schwerla

Differenzierte Kenntnisse der Anatomie und Biomechanik der oberen Halswirbelsäule sind Voraussetzung für eine adäquate klinische Diagnostik von Schleudertraumen in diesem Bereich, notwendigerweise ergänzt durch moderne bildgebende Verfahren, insbesondere die Kernspintomographie.
