Abstract:

Answering a research question often means, at the same time, addressing the issue of its funding. In France today, there are several sources of research funding that may be of interest to osteopaths. Being familiar with these funding sources and adopting a methodology that meets the requirements of grant review committees is an essential prerequisite for any osteopath wishing to engage in research. We will also examine how medico-economic analyses of osteopathy constitute study designs that are justified and appropriate for the current healthcare landscape—and therefore eligible for funding. Beyond clinical epidemiology, the evaluation and observation of professional practices are methods that can also help improve the quality of care. These evaluation methods, which are sometimes very similar in nature to clinical epidemiology, appear to be a priority area of focus. (translated by Ostlib)
