Abstract:

Sutures play a highly important role as connectors of the skull bones, in so-called sutural (secondary) growth of the skull and in the mobility of cranial bones relative to each other. They belong to the craniosacral system. The continuity between skull and sacrum is provided by the dura mater and the liquor system. In the latter, craniosacral pulsations arise that can already be observed in embryonic development. Restrictions of the system arise due to disturbances caused by, for instance, Cesarian section, delivery using a Bier's suction cup, and accidents. There are important points of reference for the individual sutures.

Suturen haben eine große Bedeutung für die Verbindung von Schädelknochen, für das sog. suturale (sekundäre) Wachstum des Schädels sowie für die Beweglichkeit der Schädelknochen untereinander. Sie gehören dem kraniosakralen System an. Diese Einheit zwischen Schädel und Os sacrum wird durch die Dura mater und das Liquorsystem geschaffen. Dabei entstehen kraniosakrale Pulsationen, die bereits in der embryonalen Entwicklung auftreten. Restriktionen des Systems entstehen durch Störungen des Systems z. B. bei Kaiserschnitt, Saugglockengeburt und Unfällen. Für einzelne Suturen gibt es wichtige Referenzpunkte.
