Abstract:

The German medical fee schedule (Gebührenordnung für Ärzte, GOÄ) has regulated the billing of medical services for privately insured patients and self-payers in Germany since 1965. It is a statutory ordinance issued by the Federal Government with the approval of the Bundesrat. The implementation of the GOÄ within the contractual relationship between patients and physicians is monitored by the State Chambers of Physicians, as public law corporations, through their own committees.

Die Gebührenordnung für Ärzte (GOÄ) regelt seit 1965 in Deutschland die Abrechnung ärztlicher Leistungen gegenüber Privatpatienten und Selbstzahlern. Sie ist eine von der Bundesregierung mit Zustimmung des Bundesrates erlassene Rechtsverordnung. Die Umsetzung der GOÄ im Vertragsverhältnis Patientinnen und Patienten und Ärztinnen und Ärzte wird von den Landesärztekammern als Körperschaften öffentlichen Rechts mittels eigener Ausschüsse überprüft.
