Abstract:

In addition to its function as the main respiratory muscle, the diaphragm is important for many parietal, visceral, fascial and vascular body structures. It is also essential for psycho-emotional health. On the one hand, it is precisely this diversity that causes it to play a major role as a region of a secondary lesion and, on the other hand, it can have a direct and indirect negative impact on numerous anatomical structures and physiological processes. During treatment, it can be diagnosed and treated in harmony with the other diaphragmata. Osteopaths can use a variety of techniques to treat the diaphragm, all of which can be simplified or improved by visualising the complex anatomy and physiology.

Das Zwerchfell hat neben seiner Funktion als Hauptatemmuskel eine wichtige Bedeutung für viele parietale, viszerale sowie fasziale und vaskuläre Körperstrukturen. Auch für die psycho-emotionale Gesundheit ist es essenziell. Gerade diese Vielfältigkeit bedingt einerseits eine große Rolle als Region einer Folgeläsion, andererseits kann es zahlreiche anatomische Strukturen und physiologische Abläufe direkt und indirekt negativ beeinflussen. In der Behandlung kann das Zwerchfell im Einklang mit den anderen Diaphragmata diagnostiziert und therapiert werden. Zur osteopathischen Behandlung stehen mannigfache Techniken zur Verfügung, die allesamt vor allem durch die Visualisierung der durchaus komplexen Anatomie und Physiologie vereinfacht bzw. verbessert werden können.
