Abstract:

According to the extent of tissue damage and the composition of the exudate, acute inflammations are subdivided macroscopically and histologically into serous/catarrhal, fibrinous, hemorrhagic, purulent, necrotizing, and acute lymphocytic inflammations. Chronic inflammations occur in a granulating, lymphocytic, or granulomatous form. The article describes in detail the different forms of inflammation and gives examples for their occurrence.
